Denny Hamlin's FedEx Transport at Hampton Inn

I had a very stressful evening in Lancaster Ohio where I was to do product knowledge training for new employees at the new Menards store. It was my first time and I was a bit nervous as to how I had done. I came back to the Hampton Inn a bit bedraggled to find this beautiful FedEx transport parked outside our door!

It was manned by Roy. I can't believe I didn't get his picture! But, it WAS late. I snapped some pictures-they came out the way I expected, dark. What a paint job!! Well, actually, according to Roy, they are all vinyl stickers! All the colors and images are vinyl, just like they use on the NASCAR Sprint cars!

Roy said they would be sleeping in the next morning, so my wife and I got up, ate a good, free breakfast at the Hampton, and went to see if the transport was still there. Yes, it was. And so was Roy and his wife. After talking a few minutes, I took some more pictures. This is the closest I have gotten to a NASCAR transport...no, not true. I remember when we were at the Berlin Raceway in Marne, Michigan, co-owned by NASCAR driver Johnny Benson, we saw Rusty Wallace's transport, and Rusty and Johnny, too. Rusty was there on his final tour before retiring.

Roy told me some neat things about the drivers. He really likes Denny Hamlin and feels he will be a superstar in the future. And Denny's teammate, Kyle Busch, he said, is considered an extremely hot driver. His ability to handle a loose race car is known to all. That is because of the different styles of cars he has raced in his past. Young, cocky, and fearless. And, who cannot know of "Smoke", Tony Stewart.

Roy and I talked for almost an hour that night. About many things. He gave me some cleaning tips, talked about what he uses on the transport, gave me a new website to look up- autogeek.com - a product he uses for chrome - Nuvite - and just a great talk about what he has seen and done since joining the Gibb's organization. It was great to talk to someone behind the scenes and get some real insight into NASCAR. Roy, I hope I got it all right. I am afraid I had to paraphrase some of the things you said. I was so tired. But I really enjoyed our talk. You are a great American.
