Great barn tour, LCCC

This was a real treat. Sorry to say, we did not have a good turn out peoplewise, but the few who were there got a great barn tour. One of our favorite things to do with LCCC (Luther's Cruisers Car Club) is touring local garages and barns. Unfortunately, I haven't always taken my camera, but, just for you folks, from now on I will!

This is a tour of the barns belonging to Jerk R. He has such an eclectic collection, but he specializes in Mr. Ford's Model T.

Jerk has some homemade-type cars. I guess they were produced in small quantities and one could built it themselves from a kit. The first Kit cars I guess.

This Model T has a neat story. It seems an acquaintance of Mr. R's asked if he could store this car in his garage. Yup, says Mr. R. 12 years later it is still there. Mr. R has the title. Signed. Darn. I just didn't have an extra 10k in my pocket that day.

The day we were there, he was finishing up a Model T racer. We were there when he fired it up the first time. How cool was that?

I hope you enjoyed this tour. I will try to put together another one soon. I was thinking of doing one on my Mustang's home. It has a nice spot in my garage. Only it might be difficult to get the best pictures since there is a bed of snow all over the driveway!

DeVos Place Car Show

<
Recently, there was a car show in downtown Grand Rapids at DeVos Place. My buddy, Ed Kosters, and I, took it all in. "High quality" cars all, these were the best of the best. Now, before you think all of these cars came in on car carriers, let me say- no, many of them were driven in. Some, of course, did come in closed car trailers since it is winter, after all.

Here are some of the pictures I took. Next time I will take some extra lighting equipment or at least a tripod. Flash pictures were dark and time exposures tended to be not so clear. Live and learn!

This is a Pontiac Grand Prix belonging to a friend of mine. He just finished it this past year. What a great job he does with bodywork and trim. Extras galore!

This is a "Berger" Camaro once owned by NASCAR driver Johnny Benson. His signature, along with some pit crew member's signatures, appears on the underside of the hood.
This Camaro is also owned by a friend and member of CLCC.

And the big guys get in, too. Kevin Harvick's car was quite a show stopper.

Keep watching this site. In early spring I will be bringing out my 64 1/2 Mustang and begin some fixing up. I have new springs, front and back, new high pressure gas shocks, front-(the rear has new air shocks). And a few dress up items. Come and watch me work!
Come, summer.
Come soon!

Rosie's Diner - Rockford Michigan

This past year, our club, Luther's Cruisers, stopped in to Rosie's Diner. The diner was moved to the Rockford, Michigan area many years ago. It has new owners and they do a great job of welcoming classic cars to their restaurant.

This diner was featured on "Diners, Drive-Ins and Dives" TV show a couple of years ago. GREAT burgers, and such a delicious breakfast. Try the hash, it's mmmmmm good.

Each Wednesday night, the locals gather to have a bite and show off their cars. These are well done cars. And the people are always friendly and ready to tell you the story of their car.

Luther's Cruisers Car Club

This post contains pictures of the cars in our car club. It's called "Luther's Cruisers Car Club."

I think the pictures speak for themselves. Since no one was contacted and told what I am doing, I will not give owners names. They will remain anonymous.

Cars, beautiful cars!!

Cars, beautiful cars. Hot cars. Fast cars. Shiny cars. I love to look at them. I love to photograph them. Well, it is time for me to start a blog and publish my pictures and stories about the cars I have seen and love.

I am starting with one I lost. A 1965 Thunderbird. Red with red interior. 390 engine. What a nice car this was. And, unfortunately, I must say it is no longer mine. It seems that the fire gods took it away one beautiful day. I was having some carb problems and was driving it back to the shop for more work. The carb was pumping gas into the engine and mixing it with the oil. I guess heat built up and "pop" it went into flames. By the time the fire department arrived, it was gone. Too much damage to repair. That was a very sad day.

This is a picture after the fire.

Please watch this blog for some great pictures of cars I have seen at the local (West Michigan) Show-and-Shines and car shows. I welcome any comments you might have! I look forward to meeting all of you who have an interest in cars. If your car is under construction, as is my 64 1/2 Mustang, that is ok! Send me a link to your site (if you have one) and I will take a look!
